Downloading Instagram Reels on Android

Android handles video downloads differently depending on the browser you use. Chrome is the most common and straightforward option.

Using Chrome on Android

1. Open the Instagram app and navigate to the public Reel you want to download.
2. Tap the Share icon (paper plane) or the three dots (...) on the Reel.
3. Select 'Copy Link' from the menu.
4. Open Chrome on Android and navigate to this downloader.
5. Paste the Reel link into the input box and wait for the preview to appear.
6. Tap 'Download'. Chrome will show a download progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
7. Once complete, find the video in your Downloads folder or Files app.

Downloading Instagram Reels on iPhone (iOS)

Safari on iOS handles file downloads through its built-in download manager, available since iOS 13.

Using Safari on iPhone

Common Mobile Download Issues

The video plays instead of downloading

This happens when browsers open MP4 files in their built-in player. Try long-pressing the Download button and selecting 'Save link as' or 'Download linked file'.

The download progress gets stuck

HD Reel files can be 20–80MB. On a slow cellular connection, this can take 30–90 seconds. Switch to WiFi for faster, more reliable downloads.

I can't find the downloaded file
